Which makes me really wonder What on a fundamental level is wrong with me Period Whether it's fixing a fucked up router configuration Or finally getting that last syntax error in a 500 line SQL query Or And finally getting ESP 32 to properly flash I just feel like every victory is Hollow

You know better when has it ever been a matter of just me. Remember gravity is not real the Earth just sucks

Donation? Why should we donate to them? Name a senator on SNAP. Name a Senator who goes to bed wondering if they should pay rent or eat. Name a senator who takes the bus. Now ask how many are millionaires. Ask how many have top tier medical. Then ask who pays for it.

There have been only 2 times I've seen things handed out to moviegoers. One was the Dune card, the other was the scratch-n-sniff for that John Waters movie. :)

I nearly laughed myself silly when the first Dune was released, as they handed out cards to people as they walked in 'explaining' the plot/movie. I could not believe it, but there it was.

EXACTLY. I think that's exactly what we are doing here, and I am happy to have the chance.

For example in HS a jock smashed my head into a locker in a ill fated attempt to shove me into it. My forehead bled like a firehose. Nothing happened to him. At the next football game someone replaced the tape of the national anthem with ac/dc's "you shook me all night long".

Well yeah , but that is a matter of how the individual sees it. An average person can see it as good vs bad thanks to simplicity, but people who put thought into it see, like you do , that it's all antagonists ... and people like me who feel that once wronged it's game on.
November 11, 2025 at 4:57 PM
That's a great comparison!

And also while I agree with you on many points, I am seeing things through my eyes, not yours and I saw some things differently. Some of that stems from being a nerd, being physically and socially abused for being a nerd, and knowing how to leverage tach when needed.

Can you imagine one of my favorite films "Better Than Chocolate" being released in the 80's? 70's? 60's?
November 11, 2025 at 4:50 PM
And again I am not saying you are wrong, or challenging your opinion - just sharing mine. That doesn't mean anything other than sharing how we see something through our eyes. IMHO that's what friends do, if you pardon the familiarity.

National Lampoon liked to press the line, but never quite crossed it. Many people don't know about the comedy albums they put out like 'Radio Diner' and other things. The limits of cinema changed a lot between the 60's and the 80's. The ratings systems changed as well. Times they are-a-changing :)

What was interesting to me out of that was that after choosing not to have sex with her the angel on his shoulder said I'm proud of you and the devil on his shoulder said you homo. To me that was incredibly Progressive for the era that the film came out in
November 11, 2025 at 4:44 PM
I think a good example of the opposite of that was Animal House. Although one often panned College movie there was that scene where one of them had the opportunity to have sex with a passed out girl, debated with an angel and devil on their shoulder and chose not to.

Okay I'm going to have to go back and revisit that because I may have misremembered. None of the movies we liked when we were younger really aged well whether they were The Bill Murray coming of age summer camp movies or any of the films that made sense in their era but lost that when the era ended
November 11, 2025 at 4:41 PM
And I will completely and totally own that. But when it comes to fantasy fiction you can tear apart any movie you like that has a Revenge theme to it and make the exact same statements that you have about both sides. It's our individual morals and ethics and how we Act despite media that matters
November 11, 2025 at 4:37 PM
As a nerd who spent a lot of my early days in school having the shit kicked out of me for being a nerd coming home with bloody noses because I like Star Trek more than Star Wars I understand the real world Drive for real world Revenge. I've done my share of questionable things for Revenge
November 11, 2025 at 4:37 PM
And I can understand and agree with that. Like I said in revenge stories like in war there really are no good guys or bad guys there's just whoever wins and gets to rewrite history

Fact that the javelin thrower Was presented as A stereotypical 1980s homosexual, limp-breasted and feminine and not good at sports and they used engineering to in a storyline use those points to his advantage. Did not age well but tried to slip under the wire by being supportive of marginalized ppl
