I think using any actual metric (and documenting it) is better than a 'vibes' based categorization. But I don't know if disk space is actually useful here.

In the fine print it states that it looks at unique entries in MobyGames - which is essentially going to include shipping credits.. and we all know how those get bloated / don't reflect actual shipping headcounts.

I think there are way too many cases of a game having a small < 10 team, but once signing with a publisher it can balloon to 100+. It's an interesting idea though, would love to see a sorted list of what actually gets bucketted into AA

They did a really good job on capturing the late 90s / early 2000s RTS vibes. Reminds me of a souped up KKND / CNC3

Interesting over correction. Given the budget and scope of the game, I'd expect games of this scale to take a similar measured approach (much like COD). Pushing the envelope doesn't necessarily mean people will buy the hardware to keep up anymore IMO

I’ve seen a lot coming from Montreal due to the now severely diminished subsidies, but I’ve also seen one “AAA” that was mostly funded by a single person for years due to their relationship with the founder.

I think it's an interesting idea, but wouldn't the flowerpot be smaller than the mountain and probably need a smaller lightmap?

That's a nice book / wiki. Looking forward to seeing it fleshed out over time.

Feels like a specific target audience that move from one flavor of the month to the next- I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of this is driven by twitch streamers looking for something super unique to stand out. I do personally like how far they stray out but I don’t expect much depth out of them.

By law they can not give you an unguided experience. It needs to qualify as an effective “interactive” and “individualized” experience. Making the user wait between sections is probably regardless of time taken is probably to show there was a person actively taking the lesson

I looked at the study it's referencing : "These associations each received two-star ratings reflecting weak relationships or inconsistent input evidence, highlighting both the need for further research and—given the high burden of these chronic diseases..."

Have you tried Mouthwashing yet?

I replied to to something tagential to this a couple of months ago. The discussions and sentiments are still available to dig up bsky.app/profile/deka...
I don't think this is really new behavior. It's just a newer generation. It wasn't too long where people associated Unity with poor quality, and before that.. Unreal Engine 3.0

You can still find threads on forums that are still up and the conversation hasn't really changed much IMO.

I’m sorry this didn’t take off- do you plan on trying your hand at other commercial plugins in the near future?

They are, I just don't specifically note if the studio has closed. We'll likely see many of the start-ups from 2021 and during COVID going under this year (we already have seen a big number)

I think what's changed is that the feedback is a lot more available and the general player base is just so much larger, and often times they only have correlation to work off, which isn't too far from how it used to be.

Try the purple mattress if you have the budget for it. I went from a hand me down for the past 10 years to getting a new mattress / frame and it was really great

It's free and you can use markdown to create a welcome page.

You can also distribute packages that people who aren't interested in the source assets / scripts to download. Here's a random github repot that shows what a landing page could look like github.com/ocornut/imgui
GitHub - ocornut/imgui: Dear ImGui: Bloat-free Graphical User interface for C++ with minimal dependencies

It's done entirely by one of Tencent's internal teams. It was impressive to see them recreate everything for Unity given how maps were built in different iterations of the game. I wouldn't be surprised if some maps are higher fidelity than the originals.
