Gorgeous photograph of a northern raven (or commin raven) that is perching on a thick branch. The bird appears very large in the image and its feathers shimmer a beautiful shade of dark blue to purple. Photographed at a local animal park, it has a large enclosure and (not pictured) a couple enrichment items it kept toying with while I was watching it. A stunning and lovely animal.

A brown and yellowish snail is posing cutely while crawling on a mossy tree bark. The seemingly long moss leaves are bright green and even grow bright orange seed capsules. By the size of the detailed moss you can imagine how tiny the snail was.

The image (which also serves as my profile picture here) features the macro shot of a small grey pill bug with yellow markings (Armadillidium vulgare “yellow”, according to my own research) sitting on top of my fingertip, with a second finger behind it; you can see how small, but actually even a little big for a pill bug, it is by comparing to your own fingertips. The macro shot shows the markings on the pill bug beautifully, even things like its eyes or tiny hairs on its legs and even the ridges of my own fingerprints (please do not misuse lol); the background is a blurry mix of dark green with bright green shapes of leaves - I have not altered anything about the photo except slightly adjusting the saturation. I found this little friend while on a walk and only picked it up for a few pictures, because it was simply too cute and beautiful, and released it again back into the wild afterwards. Little fun fact, for those that didn't know yet: pill bugs (also the woodlouse or roly-poly) are isopoda, or isopods, which are an order of crustaceans; not insects or spiders. (Reason why I put a crab emoji in the main text.) Despite most terrestrial isopods having developed respiratory organs similar to lungs (unlike their aquatic relatives and ancestors) they still rely on humid and moist environments to prevent drying out.
