You would need a black hole to spaghettify the definition of force/violence to include coercing of people who agree with the information separatist present, which is often either just statistics from the federal and provincial government, or subjective cultural differences of opinion.

Nobody believes the Russia gate conspiracy any more.

It would be a virus parroting Russia gate.
February 16, 2026 at 5:50 PM
Like Quebec did with France.

What you linked, section 47, is the punishment and procedure for treason.

Not the definition.
February 16, 2026 at 5:25 PM
Did you read that page?

This is the part of the criminal code that actually describes what treason is:

laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/C-4...

And you won't be able to find anything that Alberta separatist are doing that fits this definition.
Criminal Code
Federal laws of Canada

I don't think it's a chill to free speech in the sense that there is no legislation or opinion that detractors could have to silence it.

What it does show is how out of touch detractors are as to what the criminal code actually describes is treason.

It's a deterrent for sure, but it's only intimidating if you plan on messing with them.

Saved from bouncy castles and street BBQs
February 16, 2026 at 3:12 PM
Why? Someone who is open carrying is making you aware they are armed. I would rather have that situational awareness then not have it. Someone conceal carrying is more likely to do something bad as they have the element of surprise. All criminals conceal carry for this reason (unless in their hood)

Smith has been trying to talk to the feds, but the feds do not budge.

I don't think any amount of talking will change separatist minds now however
February 16, 2026 at 2:25 PM
I wouldn't call this the "manosphere" as the vast majority of men have never heard these terms.
February 16, 2026 at 2:19 PM
Polling of separatists shows that the majority support sovereignty over becoming a state.

So you can guess, but you would be wrong.
February 15, 2026 at 6:39 PM
One thing is for sure, the Canadian government isn't actually worried about any invasion from the US like they've been fearmongering if they're trying to disarm the population.
February 15, 2026 at 6:11 PM
Probably because the vast majority of gun violence is caused by guns acquired illegally. Not legal gun owners that are having their weapons confiscated.

In addition, they have not allocated nearly enough money to purchase them all. Most people will not get any money back.
February 15, 2026 at 6:09 PM
You can believe that, but you're going to meet in for a surprise if a successful referendum happens.

It's not going to go the way you think.
February 15, 2026 at 5:43 PM
I'm not sure what you believe I'm sidestepping. This is a procedure in accordance with our laws.
February 15, 2026 at 5:43 PM
They're trying to stop the referendum from even happening, that's goofy. If somehow they're granted that veto power, there will never be a referendum in Canada for any province. Essentially making the clarity act null and void, and no province would ever be allowed to leave.
February 15, 2026 at 5:42 PM
2. Upon a successful referendum, the province, Ottawa, and first Nations must enter into good faith negotiations. At this stage, separation is still not guaranteed. It's just the start of negotiations. This is where first Nations get their say, but it's not a veto.
February 15, 2026 at 5:41 PM
Not sure what you are getting at, there is a legal path that any province most take to separate.

1. Hold a referendum, the provinces get to decide the requirement to start a referendum. A successful vote to separate must be a clear majority.
February 15, 2026 at 5:40 PM
They get their say during the negotiations, is all laid out in the clarity act.

They don't have automatic veto power to stop separation, if they did, no province ever would be allowed to separate, they would always say no.
February 15, 2026 at 5:18 PM
They will likely stay part of Canada, or enter into new treaties with Alberta. It will be sorted out in the negotiation phase.

And if you are one of the folks who have not read the treaties yet, and believe most of Alberta belongs to first Nations, then it's not going to go as you expect.
February 15, 2026 at 5:10 PM
Nobody expects they would keep the military, or Canadian healthcare. Not sure where you heard that. Of course the dollars they have in the province would be kept by purchasing metals and other assets and having a new currency backed off that.

Federal land like bases would likely be bought out.
