My copy of the physical edition actually came a few days ago 🥹 Such an amazing experience to have.. To get the opportunity to follow my heart and experiment, and have that culminate in being physically printed alongside dozens & dozens of amazing artists. I can barely believe it still!!

She is rendered in a way that reminds one of a plastic anime figure, and has a nondescript shirtless body that is half overtaken by red, pixelated, gored flesh going from her chest to up the right side of her face. My piece for S1M* / Simulacra Magazine's second issue! Poem & sculpture made from sealing wax & tealight wax on canvas 🕯

A photograph of a wax sculpture on canvas, photographed and bordered by a black and shiny rose pattern embossed piece of fabric. The sculpture is of a feminine, chibi-like anime styled person, laying splayed weakly on the ground with legs propped up and their head tilted to the right side. They have two long twin tails of varying lengths that frame their body. The figure is made of white tealight wax with light and dark blues mixed in and some glitter. Their body lacks much detail outside of visible stump legs attached to a short torso, vague lumps of cleavage, indeterminate arms that meld into the wax of their hair and leave strings bridging them to the hair and shoulders, and a thin stringy neck that attaches to their round face, surrounded by sharp, shapely bits of anime hair and bangs that frame a single eye peeking out from their otherwise blank and featureless face. The canvas they lay on consists of puddles of sealing wax poured on and shapes that were made by pouring seal wax into moulds. There are a variety of shapes, butterflies, hearts, stars, flowers, and a large golden key. Top right of the canvas is covered in pastel white, pink, purple, and blue waxes, and transitions into dark metallic browns, golds, purples, and coppers. The poem presented on the top of the image reads in pixelated text: "I am no longer a creature of sentiment Once the wax machine soothes reality in paraffin layers Effigies on a belt replacing a face of glory days Hundred and another cast in the moulds of sad sad innards Wax will refill the holes in all the right ways And it will reprint and reprint and reprint until perfect and painless."
