The city has now twice reached out to talk. This has only happened since that weird thing we had to report Seneca for. Both times we basically asked them to "do a democracy" and that appears to be too much. We are so behind on posts because behind the scenes things are weird.

as cities debate Automated License Plate Readers, we often hear the same reassurances: don’t worry, we’ll regulate them/set strict rules/never share data with ICE/we'll only use them for speeding/etc. political promises may feel comforting but it misses that the INFRASTRUCTURE itself is the danger.

We reported the Joplin City Clerk's Office to the AG today for Sunshine Law violations.... again. :(

There is concerning evidence that extremely sensitive data from Joplin has wound up in another agency in possible violation of the law. We have inquired with multiple city employees simultaneously we are not sure if we should expect a response based on their current behavior.

We asked the city for the full data or anonymized data. This was their response. They claim what's on our website is not possible. Our Excel experience is not great and we figured it out in ~10 minutes. They are records professionals.

This is your city Joplin!

Finding what we found wasn't hard. We used HaveIBeenFlocked.com once and our collective jaws hit the floor. What was hard was documenting everything the way we did and developing an alternate source for the data to make sure what we were seeing was real. Here's an example.

Speaking of this, we also have several other issues with the City Clerk's office and are considering representation. If anyone has any resources, WE ARE LOOKING!

We knew the name of the officer abusing the Flock system in Joplin before we filed a records request. However, the city also revealed it to us accidentally when they did an "Epstein Files" on the redaction. All of the things they were trying to hide were easily discovered just by using copy +paste
