Campaigning to defend Greenland against the United States.
With his new threats to tariff European countries until he gets to own Greenland, Trump is expecting leaders to cave like they usually do.

Von der Leyen, Starmer and the rest all need to stand up to him now.

Don't hold your breath.

Europe must fight Trump's deranged new demands to own Greenland.

He says Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Finland will face a 10% tariff in February climbing to 25% on June 1 if he doesn't get his way.

This might help Trump understand how the Mercator projection exaggerates the size of Greenland.

On 2nd thoughts, it's still too complex for him.

European military are arriving in Greenland on a scoping mission to deter a Trump attack.

France, Germany, UK, Norway, Sweden and others are establishing plans for a sustained troop presence in Greenland.

Soldiers from France's mountain infantry are already in Greenland, with more to follow.

Denmark and the US disagree on the outcome of their talks over Trump's demands to own Greenland.

Trump claims they have set up a working group for "technical talks" on his acquisition of Greenland.

But Danish foreign minister Rasmussen says in that case it will be a very short set of meetings.

If NATO does not cooperate, any attempted Trump invasion of Greenland is likely to fail.

To airlift sufficient US troops quickly to Greenland Trump would need Canada for staging and overflight.

Otherwise, Greenland's allies will get there first with more and better forces.

NATO without the US has many more troops capable of fighting in Greenland than does the US alone.

Immediate Arctic-capable combat troops:
United States ~11,000–16,000
Non-US NATO (combined) ~30,000–45,000

Strategic bottom line:
In the High Arctic, non-US NATO dominates competence density.

NATO must not cooperate with a US invasion of #Greenland .

Without NATO, the US loses its advantage.

Any invasion attempt becomes slow and logistically fragile.

With NATO, Denmark gains speed and sustainability.

NATO allies can put 10 thousand troops on Greenland faster than the US can.

How quickly could Denmark + allies land 10,000 troops on Greenland?
Faster than the US cut off from NATO..
Denmark would have:
• Full NATO backing
• EU logistical support
• Canadian, British, Norwegian, and French facilitation
• 1,000–3,000 troops: 3–7 days
• 5,000–10,000 troops: 1–2 weeks

It is vital that NATO provides no logistical support for any US invasion of Greenland.
Without it, the US cannot quickly airlift troops to Greenland.
The US advantage shrinks dramatically.
Denmark + allies gain speed and sustainability, US operation becomes slow and logistically fragile.

Officers of the Swedish Armed Forces have gone to Greenland at the request of Denmark to support military and security operations on the territory.
