unrelated to piano practice, im making a special mixtape for puppy boy🐶💖 its a bit lower pressure than making a DJ set since its just for someone to listen to by themselves, but i still get to practice my mixing and figure out how to do some transitions that arent just slapping 2 songs together

nah i gotta remember im not going to hit flow till it really gets drilled into me. i had a long practice session just now and it was nice, didnt really have any big ahas tonight, but im slowly getting faster at finding where my fingers go for each scale in the circle of fifths as i go thru it

i couldnt hit a flow with that thought, so i may have to think about other excersizes to help me conceptualize intervals better.

current practice struggle is trying to figure out where to start digging into drills. I know a lot of fundamentals already and its just too boring to do the most basic of the basics. last couple of short sessions I was looking for excersizes for doing the circle of fifths

i have another silly practice thing: sometimes i decide not to practice cuz i am on a discord call, so instead ive started to try and score the conversations people are having. its very silly, and thankfully no one can hear me doing it, so im just silent in the corner (not uncommon behavior for me)

its like that feeling of finding a hidden item room in a game. it was always there for you, not too far off the beaten path but just hidden enough that you have to be the kind of player that explores everything you can to find it.

theres a feeling i have about chiptune that is really pushing me forward with the DJ stuff, and its that nobody around me knows how rich it is with multiple scenes, various styles, and just oodles and oodles of stuff you never knew existed unless you were looking for it.

Guess this means i got to brush up on reading music as well. I can read slowly but not well enough to play at the moment. Reading sheet music will be my best bet at improving past absolute beginner level.

Took me nearly a whole year to give in to it. But hey, considering what ive learned in this time production wise, i feel some real momentum behind this choice, and can feel the rewards for learning just past where i can reach right now.

There are multiple reasons i didnt want piano to be the instrument i commit to learning, but susie deltarune convinced me those reasons dont matter much.

I understand the impetus to injecting gen ai into your career is for immediate feedback, and in many cases, money. I guess ill just never understand why people feel comfortable distancing or removing themselves all together from their work. Dont you want to be the reason people are dancing?

Like yeah they are flops, but they are also little doodles, glimmers of cool tracks i might make in the future, hints of ideas i cant fully grasp, its a memory of who i am when im making beeps and boops, and i wont be able to spread my wings and fly without it.

Also i get a chance to get people to listen to and enjoy chiptunes, and thats always special for me

Anyway... It might not be music production, but maybe i could be one of those DJs who peppers in their original music here and there. And i get to be in music spaces as a performer which means more opportunities for when i produce music :3
