It's like playing a video game where the story is gas but you know sooner or later you're gonna be back mashing X on zombies in the woods for way too long

ok ok I got a little lost in the sauce perhaps, I do definitely feel capable of caring about conventional mech stuff too, but what I'm really getting at is I so often yearn for a sense of grounding, weight, scale, and like... inertia?

idgaf about a big jagged metal human with superpowers, put me in horrific industrial vehicles that are as hazardous to my health as anybody else's and let me feel my fillings rattling every time it takes a step

I just wanna play games where my mech is a hunk of shit that walks at the speed of a human and would shatter like a vase if it did a boost jump and I'm not kidding

I know I'm not even slightly meeting the game halfway but, well, I'm not really trying to critique it. Rather I find it so puzzling that this feels like how truly *all* mech fiction is to the point where I seem to have an entirely different idea of "what if you piloted a big robot" to everyone else

And I don't know how to make this sound reasonable but like. why does my mech have to have stupid little fingers to hold its toy guns with and a head that seems to serve no purpose but to, idk, put some vital computing parts on the outside?

Pluribus is pretty good so far; I'm as shocked at how much I love Fargo season 5 as I was to find out that it exists in the first place; dipping my toes into The Mentalist and yeah I could watch 151 episodes of this why not

But honestly, if you have access to the movie, start watching from 50:32 (the shot looking straight up at the treetops, followed by a scene of Gawain tied up and escaping his bonds) and tell me it doesn't make for a great cold open

I watched for about 40 minutes before I went "now hang on this feels very early for all this act 3 tension building I'm getting"
