Deer Rose Homesteads

A small, backyard farm located in Southeast Indiana about 40 miles west of Cincinnati.
First we get a chicken and then we are happy. Then we get more chickens and we are SO HAPPY. Then we get all the chickens!
My hope for Deer Rose Homestead is to share the things happening around our farm. From things being made from food to crafts to what's growing in the garden, I am pleased to share the love I have for our farm to others who are interested in coming along for the ride. Thanks for checking us out!

I'm a mom of four, but two are in Heaven. Josh was stillborn in 2007. We decorated his nursery in deer and woodland animals. Our twin daughters were born in 2017, Anya Rose died at 60 days old. Deer Rose Homestead gives a nod to Joshua, our little deer, and our Anya Rose.

I've always thought it was so cool how some homes had names. Green Gables. Biltmore. Lasata. Graceland. When people would talk about coming to our house for goodies, they's day, "I got it from K.'s house." And I wanted something a little more creative! But I also wanted it to represent us.

Our farm has grown with lots of animals, veggies, and love. I'm always thinking about ways to expand. I'm active in Farmers Markets, and the last couple of years our church has bought goodies from us. I love hearing people say, "I got it at K's house," but that furthered my desire for a name.

I grew up on a working farm in northern Kentucky and I couldn't wait to leave! After a few years of living in major cities, I realized that my heart belongs in the country. My husband was supportive of that. I love reliving all the wonders again by watching our children experience the same thing.

We have horses, a small pond to fish on, teacup cows, a whole lot of chickens, and garden that grows some of the yummiest veggies! I've always loved sunflowers so I planted a sunflower patch for my own enjoyment. That sunflower patch has become a place where families have come to take family photos.

For the last three years, I've created a small following at my our local Farmers Market selling various veggies I've grown or crafts I've made. I've created our home as a place where friends and family can visit and leave with full hands, a happy heart, and memories that last a lifetime.
