I taught MS ELA-R 😊& reading the opening prologue is the quietest I've heard "grown" 7th/8th kids. It's powerful, terrifying,& real. Kids were always 🤯.

Sweetheart (technically book 2) by Chelsea Cain in the Archie Sheridan / Gretchen Lowell series.
Hard to discuss this book/series w/o giving away spoilers but this Detective is ANTI-hero perfection.
And I like the 2nd book because you get the biggest ? answered, only to wind up w/ new twists🤯😍
