Homemade DIY soft vinyl toys
Hot glue saved the day tonight. I didn’t loose too much, but still a pain. First time it’s happened in while. Got complacent I reckon. Lol!

Thanks!

I’m no longer mixing graphite into anything. I paint my wax with the Rustoleum stuff I mentioned earlier. But I’d never discourage experimentation. That’s how I figured it all out. Lol!

If there was copper on the surface of the wax, then yes. It would bond to that. But you’re going to melt the wax out of the mold eventually. Thinking about it now, mixing metal in the wax could result in weird deposition of the copper, and an un-smooth surface.

I’m not sure I understand what you’re asking. What mixture?

I tried mixing graphite into my wax early on, but it didn’t work. Then I tried airbrushing with graphite mixed with India ink and isopropyl alcohol. That works, but has its problems. Now I use Rustoleum Cold Galvanizing Compound. It’s Zinc based, cheap, and available at Lowe’s. Works really well.

Well then the process of making the molds should be right up your alley! It’s all done with Electroforming. A cousin of electroplating that’s done by building up the copper on a wax form that’s been coated in electroconductive paint. Easy to say, harder to get right. Lol!

I’ve been trying to figure out a way to share my process with folks, but I don’t have the know how to do something like that right now. It’s a lot. Lol! But feel free to ask questions. Happy to answer.

Thanks! I know Skeletor is everywhere, but those colors are so cool. It’s a half boot too. Lol!
