Mothering is intensely personal + political. In a society that rhetorically places mothers in a pedestal, we consistently show them that they are not valued.

Instead of simply asking for “updates”, why isn’t Congress - responsible for funding USAID - doing more to avoid the agency’s shutdown? Inquiry letters and update requests might have worked in another time, but now they seem woefully inadequate.

HR 9495 targeting nonprofits failed to pass in the House.
Great work to all who pushed hard against it, made calls, and sent emails to their reps.

Tomorrow, the House takes up HR 9495 which gives the Treasury Secretary with sweeping authority to designate nonprofits as “terrorist supporting”, and strip them of their tax-exempt status. This is an unnecessary and dangerous bill. More at theintercept.com/2024/11/10/t...
