Per the University of Michigan, consumer sentiment is just off its all-time low set in 2022, and it's lower than it was during the 2008 financial collapse.
The University of Michigan’s Index of Consumer Sentiment, which measures how Americans feel about the economy, fell to 50.4 on November 7. We live in a bifurcated country. Consumer spending is buoyed by the wealthiest Americans, while all other income brackets are feeling pinched and cutting back. How long can we paper over a trash economy where only the wealthiest have cash to spend?

Y'all! ... rural, Rep-leaning counties in Rep-leaning states receive more SNAP benefits than Dem areas, **especially** urban areas. Folks in urban enclaves pay more taxes for more local support. Folks in rural areas pay less in local taxes and thus require more in federal support.

If the Dems want to do well in 2026, they need to hold competitive primaries ~everywhere~. They need to at least run candidates ~everywhere~. Let voters pick who fits their district. Then, candidates need to mercilessly hammer a "Trump sucks" message.
