“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

-Theodore Roosevelt
Mass killings still occur in developed "first world" countries/states with very restrictive laws around firearms. So, are people simply hoping to reduce the harm and ignore the causes because that's the "easiest" thing to do? Convenience seems to be the organizing principle.

No one is talking about how late stage capitalism in this country has 1. destroyed social interaction and therefore empathy 2. monetized outrage and therefore radicalization online 3. created a constant sense of dread due to the rising costs of basic human necessities which 4. amplifies desperation.

This is the situation in California and there is limited/inconclusive evidence that the 10+1 magazine limit caused any reduction in mass shootings in the state.

What a great idea it is to disarm the underclass while a fascist oligarchy continues its destruction of our democratic institutions.

I went through 3 rounds of waitlisting for this vehicle and by the time one was available he price had more than doubled. It was a lower priced comp for Rivian but ended up $30+ more. If they were cheaper and ag still had good incentives for solar/wind, these could have revolutionized farming.

Chomsky's purity tests for the left did more to let the fascists in than anything Bannon ever did. Controlled opposition.

When I click to start Word or Excel, I no longer feel like I'm trapped in some terrible past where icon design stifled my productivity or creative urges. It's really liberating. Seeing the new icons makes me feel empowered.

I was curious and tried out Gemini & Claude just to see what's up. I found that if you're already skilled in Search-Engine Fu, you don't need them. And they're usually wrong. And having to fine tune prompts doesn't save any time. People are being lazy and unimaginative. Or they have money invested.
