I've spent the last decade banging on about the connections between how we travel and healthier, happier lives. An edgelands regular with Sustrans since 2019.
Do Hackney's A105 mobility lane users deserve an upgrade?

Stevenage has banned footway and crossover parking on this estate - great news for the postie!

Here's the traffic order: publicnoticeportal.uk/notice/traff...

Thanks to @rantyhighwayman.bsky.social for the heads up.

Our borough has begun tackling unfair subsidies by increasing pay-to-park hours by 110% across the borough.
Excessive "free" parking hours are paid for by all council tax payers many of whom do not keep private cars, especially in the south of the borough.

Did you know that one London borough has a station cycle hub storage service that gives access tosecure 'hubs' at 11 rail and underground stations across the borough? Eleven hubs, all on one electronic fob. £39 a year.
Whaddaya think?

That a book about a network of cycle routes that connects people and places is considered a "book about sport" says a great deal about the establishment's view of cycling.

The UK prime minister's comms team set a up a shoot at a Halfords (owned by vast private equity firm CVC) for the head of state to talk about damage to car tires caused by potholes caused by ever heavier vehicles caused by the motor industry in cahoots with the finance sector and fossil fuel firms.

This feels like a stunt. Very little of the network is open to full sized cycles and now staff are obliged to recognise an ebike? Guess which one of these is electric and which is not.

#Carbrain is equivalent to life in the Matrix.

A handful of us have taken the red pill and now we knit our own clothes and campaign for point closures.

It can feel pretty lonely down here.

Today, in a break from the usual programming, I'll be driving a Toyota based hybrid up the M11. My maximum speed will be based on conditions not posted limits 😏

#Pavementparking is a bad habit and drivers need help quitting.

Apologists will have you believe it's about lack of space. It's not.

2021's "Non-prescribed zebra crossings at side roads" study now three years old, anyone know if DfT have drafted any guidance around these yet?

When asked if they would like to walk/wheel more of their everyday trips, respondents in a wealthy rural/semi rural area with 80-90% car availability per household responded thus:

Hackney was my first love when I arrived in London 25 years ago. It's a great shame that the men behind this layout will continue in gainful employment after inflicting this design from from the 80's on #Hackney. Instead outcomes will range from suppressing walking rates to serious injury & death.

I need a hydrologist to explain to me how a street built ON the bank of the river can show as 0.1-1% flood risk on Natural Resources Wales website.

Whilst you can buy a tree on the internet, watching it grow is one of life's great pleasures. Here's one we planted earlier. 😊

It was ok, thanks. Asked some kids in Buckinghamshire about going for walks with friends and family. Pretty clear preferences.

Folks, what do we feel are the chances of getting major public bodies like city transport authorities onto Bluesky. Also major climate and social justice related charities? I've written to my employer about it this week.
