We dance a dance of ignorance until the weight of Awareness makes it hard to continue dancing and even harder to hear the music.

As we mature, we become more enlightened about the cruelty of reality. Like an increase in gravity, the more we learn, the harder it becomes to move in the ways that brought joy.

I'm not sure it's even ignorance. More like they know they don't have the moral high ground but want to be able to continue in there immoral ways.
