I think the most discouraging thing about all this AI stuff is I feel like it's just deepening the long term game of lauding a dev *until* something dire comes out. Workplace abuses, AI use, theft, sexual harassment, abusive hiring practices, etc. Like just waiting for a shoe to drop all the time.

Every time someone says they “only” use AI for references or composition it always ends up that the product is based off that. So I dunno who folks think they are fooling, like that suddenly makes it ok to use the automated theft machine cuz you added one more step.

Disney did not take a bribe/money. They're investing equity in OpenAI to allow users to make AI slop of their character. So this is not a bribe and a lot worse. In fairness to Kotaku, they did change the headline later to be more accurate.
