Carving queer spaces in unlikely places
Parashat Vayikra set out a hierarchy of sin offerings. In order, a bull for the priest, a male goat for a chieftain, otherwise a female goat. But this is backward - female livestock are worth more than male livestock. You don't need many males. Anyone have an explanation?

A3: stretching out hands and arms! Hands and arms are so important in the blessings in Bereishit. We see negative "blessings" in Yaakov's final words to his sons, so they're not necessarily positive. I was comparing some other translations of נטה. Bent. Perverted? #ParahaChat

Losing trust in institutions and/or the people leading them makes hard times a lot harder. Things just become so unmanageable when the people and institutions that are supposed to be trustworthy aren't. #ParshaChat

I'm not cool enough for TikTok, but I have a great podcast where I explore the weekly Torah portion from a liberal Jewish perspective. It's called Seven Minute Torah, and it's consistently one of the top 100 Jewish podcasts. Come check it out!

One spiritual skill is the ability to say “I don’t know.” Because it’s the truth. We do not know how things will unfold.

When you allow yourself to “not know” you open up to being surprised.

Personally & politically.

Rabbi: Some say that it was a family leave. Others say it was due to the birth of a child, as it is said - "she shall not touch any consecrated thing, etc."
