Biden’s entire reelection campaign hinges on the idea that sure, he’s enabling genocide, poverty is accelerating, you’re not getting healthcare, the housing crisis is out of control and COVID is disabling people… but if you withhold your vote bad things will start happening.

The dismal uptake of boosters is one of those things you have to pretend is a mystery. Otherwise you have to acknowledge availability is bad, you gotta pay out of pocket & every politician / media outlet has been telling you to stop taking COVID seriously.

Better call a detective!

I lost nearly a week of memory to COVID. I remember how I badly felt before things went dark.

When I returned to the world, my immediate reaction was “I *never* want to experience *anything* like that again.”

Other people get hospitalized and immediately make… the same plans.

After 2+ wasted years we’re *finally* investing in next gen vaccines.

Two companies were given $8.5 million and $10 mil respectively to run trials of their nasal vaccines.

Meanwhile, a consulting firm was given $100 million to administer two competitions.

lmao of course

I’m forcing myself to complete one book at a time before starting another, and it’s torture. I realized I was perpetually midway through three simultaneously and decided to *focus*.

How did I regularly do this as a kid?

Oh, wait… analog childhood/ digital adulthood. Gotcha.

A Friday evening vax appointment was worth it yet again.

Pre-infection: 6 hrs to Just the Flu-like symptoms.

4 mo. post-infection: 2 hours to brutal body aches.

16 mo. post-infection: 4 hours to feeling super tired & a bit dizzy. Slept deeply. Worn out today.

You could even say it was… mild.

Paxlovid just pulled the third member of my family - my mom! - back from the brink. In the last 18 months, each of us got our own glimpse of how bad things could’ve gone. My dad, the clearest view

I’m thrilled with the recoveries, but dread another trip to the edge of the abyss.

The emergency alert was *fine*, but it was no “ATTACK WARNING RED!”

A text from the president saying “lmao ur owned” will never beat that.

People feel defeated. I’m not a fan of following that to nihilism but believe me, I *understand*.

All of the carrots are gone. People see that they’ll work harder, but there likely won’t be a house, kid, retirement… any of that. There’s nothing to work *towards*.

An empty slog.

You have to appoint a senator for California.

Do you go with:

A - Someone who doesn’t even live in the state, who advised a prez campaign that won zero delegates, argued Uber drivers aren’t employees & became an exec at Airbnb during a housing crisis they help fuel?

OR

B - Not that person

My 72 year old immunocompromised mom has COVID. I’m helping her navigate treatment from over a 1K miles away because my trust in the healthcare system is nonexistent.

I‘ll lol and lmao into self combustion if someone tells her she should unmask so they can see her smile.

We went to a farm today. Hung out with some goats. Listened to a pig snore. It was nice. Hope your weekend is just as relaxing.

The article covers all the bases:

✅ Your safety is entirely your responsibility. If other people decide to do things that harm you, it’s nobody’s fault but your own.

✅ Hand sanitizer is an effective means of avoiding an airborne virus.

✅ If you’re sick, MAYBE consider possibly staying home?

When it first came out, I didn’t realize the movie Trainspotting was set in 1987, so I thought that’s just what Scotland was like in 1995.

Buncha guys forever obsessed with Iggy Pop and Lou Reed while their girlfriends tried to get them into New Order and acid house.

Gonna start pretending I’ve got somewhere to go but then at the last minute they cancel so I can feel that rush of relief

Being sick was a reminder that anyone who tries to normalize getting knocked on your ass for a week or two several times a year is making it crystal clear they have zero adult responsibilities in life. Privilege for days.

People try to tell me things are fine, but you can get a disability from breathing the same air as the wrong person, Antarctica has less ice than my freezer on a Friday night, nobody can find housing, and it’s normal to get offered an installment plan when you order a pizza.

Every time a site falls apart I consider not posting anymore, but true posters understand the impossibility of attempting such a thing.

We rise from the ashes time and time again to get in one more lol and another lmao.
