„Golani IDF Brigade“ is genuinely an insane conjunction of words.

Like „Paris Wehrmacht Division“, „Washington Ground Forces of Russia“ or „Nanking JSDF battalion“.

Why would a network ever put this out there?

„Illustrative Locations“ could go straight to a bullshit-bingo board.

Wouldn’t this play into permanent security? Politicising genocide if you will?

Also: obviously, the way it’s currently going in energy consumption, development goals, application etc. etc. etc. there is no question that AI is horrible, promises a lot and keeps none of it 😅

There is no example of LLM usage that couldn’t be made into a negative one when assuming improper application or exclusive use :)
December 19, 2025 at 3:25 AM
At that point we would need to talk more about general education and the true meaning of availability, rather than the concept or application of LLMs themselves.
December 19, 2025 at 3:23 AM
True, I don’t think that is much different in any other (this heavily compacted) form of information-providing.

Yes, good review papers are much better than LLMs but they are also less easily accessible to people without university access let alone the knowledge to look for them.
December 19, 2025 at 3:23 AM
I feel like part of this is inevitable when information becomes available/accessible: people generally rely less on what is actual knowledge
December 19, 2025 at 3:06 AM
There are a lot of caveats to this (well done review papers, accuracy etc.) but I think LLMs could/do make certain information more easily available to people not otherwise trained in a specific field.

Not gonna die on that hill tho, this is quite literally the devils advocate speaking.
December 19, 2025 at 2:54 AM
I think (and this is digging deep!) you could argue that LLMs, that were trained on specific literature, can make it easier for laid people to get a rough but fairly understandable and comprehensive intro to a field without requiring research skills or high level reading capability.

To me, it feels like “attention span reduction” is a buzzword topic the same way that “killer-games” were 15 years ago

I’m genuinely unsure how large, permanent and universal the impact of TikTok video-length and attention-retention mechanisms are.

5.1 Methoden I.

4.1 Die Taktiken I.

Well my plans of doing my graduate studies in the US have certainly evaporated over the past couple of months…

I wonder what this repressive environment is going to do to the scientific output in general? Are researchers just going to relocate? Scary times.

The vivid imagination of Israeli intelligence officers. Have the villagers maybe identified the soldiers and what they were and thus refused collaboration?
