2-0 (ID R3, didn’t play) Friday with Jeskai. The ability to create blowouts in this format is extremely powerful and Jeskai accomplishes this is in spades. Many players at my LGS are succeeding with difficult to pilot decks and I got passed plenty of gas as a result.

3-0 (Kinda. It’s complicated.) last night with Mardu. Aggressive strategies are very strong and this deck had even greater room for improvement. Aggro is a little outside my wheelhouse but I’m beginning to tamp it down. Going under these decks feels amazing.

Bonus Monday night draft last night going 2-1 (ID R3) with Abzan splashing blue for Kotis. White felt super open and getting into the red zone helped facilitate wins. Assertive strategies are very powerful and I’ll be looking for them from now on.

2-1 Friday (bye R2) with Temur. This color combo still feels very strong, but the format as a whole is looking insanely top-heavy. Outright counterspelling or getting under the bombs of the format are looking to be more viable solutions if you don’t get one yourself.

2-1 Friday with Abzan midrange. Temur is absolutely insane and I for sure underestimated blue this set. Midrange feels good but a little stinky with how over the top some of its competition can go with stats and cards. Looking to have my tune changed on aggro.

Disjointed in design, Mighty No. 9 makes its spiritual predecessor feel almost like an accident. 2/10.

3-0 (ID R3) with Dimir… AGAIN. This deck was retooled three times with endgame DFT certainly forcing me to be flexible, which I hope pays off for Tarkir. Getting second opinions and talking with my fellow players has certainly led me to much success this format.

3-0 (ID R3) Friday night with Dimir. Very strange packs without clear direction in a smaller pod means I was one foot into artifacts and one foot into speed. Got through 2 green decks and a Chandra to win tho, the grip of removal and higher end payoffs worked out well.

2-1 (ID R3) last night with Simic. One of if not the BDIF with the best card in the set. Limiting my splashes has definitely been a level up as I certainly could have gone punished. Green being so over-centralizing is getting a bit old. Only dropped to Golgari.

The lesson here is that white models inevitably gather dust and scuffs over time so it’s best to not take month breaks with them. Not the happiest I’ve ever been with a model, but it’s done. Can’t wait to paint my Vespids!

2-1 with Grixis on Friday splashing red exclusively for Chandra. Dimir feels strong but has a significantly hard time closing without haunt the network. Won almost every game with my red mythic. Great consistency with this deck even though it is very removal light.

Late results posting. 2-1 (ID R3) with Golgari on 21 Feb. Sovereign is obviously very good but not a single gold card and this deck still performed. Even an unfocused deck like this one can win with green it seems. Slow and steady really does win the race this format.

1-2 last night for my first draft. Thought this deck was nuts but it just didn’t get there. I’m very out of my element this set with aggro and artifacts and my opinion of black is all over the place. Need to reevaluate some cards. Back to the lab.

2-1 last night (kinda, ID R3 we were trolling) with Dimir. This deck was insane and so much fun. Maybe 1 or 2 lower cost creatures and this deck is unbeatable. Foundations was just the gift that kept on giving and I’m glad I got to play blue before we closed up shop.

2-1 last night (ID R3) with Golgari in a control shell with a red splash. Kind of cooked and had some incredibly fun matches. These spiders are absurd for a common and the Rakdos gold cards are super worth the splash. Opened a $30 Screaming Nemesis in my promo too. :)

0-2 last night with a bye round. Pivoting colors is very unfamiliar, especially since I was considering pivoting to blue, which I have yet to play this set. Definitely costed me some playables. Got flooded 3/4 games but tbh this deck lacked connective tissue anyways.

A good series and a great pioneer deserved better than a mediocre remake. 3/10, closer to a 4 than a 2.

My first 3-0 tonight with essentially mono red! Being almost the only red player in the pod gave me *tons* of playables; bombs hardly mattered. Drakuseth resolved once and resulted in a scoop. Had a second Draku and more insanity in the sideboard.

2-1 last night with Selesnya. Packs were hot and my R2 somehow had even nuttier cards in a bad MU for me. My opinion of black this set continues to do nothing but climb. This deck in particular top-decked a bit too much, strong but not super coherent. Bad pic, sorry.

Community consensus on this game being frustrating to play is not unjustified. Too many characters in this game play Solitaire and victory is determined by ability to dodge chump-checks. Hit master, probably shelving, we’ll see what December brings.

2-1 and damn near 3-0 last night with Rakdos Good Stuff. Glad to see my faith in black this set rewarded. Red still seems very temperamental to draft with few playables, unless you get some thuggery like double Kellan.
