Now that I’ve finally come out of my grading stupor I can listen to music that isn’t lofi beats again and @lukewestaway.bsky.social drops an album, maybe there really is someone out there looking out for me

Today I have my final office hours of the semester and my students all have final projects this week… today might be the day that more than one student shows up to office hours 😂

So I impromptu took over two classes to help out at my university and just learned a basic lesson in math that didn’t occur to me before taking the classes on… 4 is twice as many as 2🤪🤪

The Duolingo owl keeps yelling at me to do my Greek lesson and won’t seem to accept the excuse that it’s all Greek to me

I really didn’t think it would be good but this four nations face off is likely stupidly fun to watch even when I’m not particularly cheering for a team, sorry to talk about sports on main I will go back to being a frightened early career researcher soon

Once you start teaching undergrads do you ever get over that icky sensation that you are The Man tm that you used to fight against or is it just a learn to live with it thing

Somehow I didn’t realize that if I assigned the same book to two classes to keep my material costs down, I would have to read two classes worth of essays on the same topics… in other news are starting to lose their shape and meaning

I’ve been learning Greek to prep for my honeymoon and oh my god I feel so stupid for forgetting they had so many addition to their alphabet… tbh I am a little afraid of the trident style letters

Man if instagram asks me one more time if it can draft my messages to my friends and summarize their messages to me I swear I’m gonna regress to only being a penpal with people

Turns out the hardest thing I had to do today was not in fact teaching my students or writing my dissertation but instead it was running around campus to print off my quizzes for my first year class lol

Never imagined the hardest thing I’d do today is try to invent plausible wrong answers for a quiz but oh man making wrong answers that aren’t painfully obviously wrong is a skill I have yet to hone

Today was my first day teaching a full class of 100 level undergrads, why did no one tell me a room of 18 year olds could be so frightening 😂😂
