New @corallab.bsky.social paper. Herein we describe a new species of Parasphaerasclera, a genus previously not reported in the Atlantic. It was initially detected using eDNA before it was found.

Finally, after a year, the last chapter of my PhD is out.
We confirm the presence of mitonuclear discordance in 3 genera (so far!) of bamboo corals. In addition, we find an ORF in a highly variable region between cob-nad6. Its function is unknown. It is present in all individuals bar Acanella

Today is all about squat lobsters. These guys were found living on corals from Irelands deep sea! Soon we will work to assess the diversity of these animals in Irish waters including descriptions of new species! @corallab.bsky.social
