Well this was a highlight of the weekend, a haul of Rogue Trader era models! A few grail items in there such as the Grey Knights and the Assassin, just a shame that the Inquisitor is missing his right arm.

Time to dig out the Biostrip again methinks.

I had two choices; spare head from a Sanguinary Priest of a Horus Heresy Head. I was initially more partial to the HH head, but it felt a little small so the Priest head won out.

With everything now prepped, I plan to start getting paint on this gent soon.

Success! A little extra work with a sharp tool and I got the worst of it off. I put some more work in fixing the worst of the glue damage and I was left with a pretty reasonable Jovan. The full horror of the head made itself clear though, so time for the nippers and a bitz box dive.

Well, I was not giving up on this one! Into the dettol pot he went with several other rescue models I had. First few rounds took the majority of the painting off, but he was still not looking great. Next step was Biostrip.

It was that bad. Jovans original head was gone and replaced with a smaller one of unknown origin. I’m not sure what happened to it but it also appeared badly melted and lacking detail. I’m thinking this was someone’s first army as there was other signs of plastic glue damage on him.

Since getting back into #40K, a model I wanted a crack at was the promo model Sgt Jovan, unfortunately he was always just out of my price range. However upon finding a mislabeled and poorly painted one on eBay I thought “Cannot be that bad, right?”…

Every time I see that image of the Sumpcroc I mistake the contraption on his back for a hat and just think of Leatherhead from Turtles.

It’s Scareglow!!! Due to Mattel’s apparent belief that no one in the UK likes MOTU this guy has evaded me for a long time, which made it even more satisfying finding him for just £3! He may be mostly Skeletor parts, but you got to love that glow in the dark look.

My local HMV got some Godzilla blind boxes in so grabbed one on a whim. Rather chuffed to get Shin Godzilla first try as that’s the one I was hoping to get the most.

My Khorne Master of Executions from a Chaos themed painting competition. I do and don’t miss the old FW upgrade kit I used for the head; lots of personality but lots of warping to fix.

Anvils of the Heldenhammer Stormcast (2021). I love this mold but didn’t fancy doing a solid gold model, so when I read the lore for the Anvils it inspired me to paint it up in that style.

May paint another of this model, see how my skills have improved since.
