Find out why the decision was made not to include in the next 12 decodable texts.
August 18, 2025 at 8:40 AM
Incorrect. They are there and will continue to be published. 12 new decodable texts across phonics plus will have names but no other kupu. This has to do with phoneme grapheme patterns. There are LOADS of readers in what are called authentic texts containing Kupu

Go fight for the Resource Teachers of Māori who were recently axed. Fight for accessibility and conditions for great teachers to be teaching te reo to our tamariki. Share this.

Go to Ready to Read Kākano. The letters that make all of the words in Kākano 1 are madpotnis. So the books are ‘I am in’. ‘Pop and Mop’. If te reo was banned you’d be hearing from a lot of pissed off teachers.

And I would LOVE to keep watching you all blame the politicians, coz let’s face it, National trash teachers. But this an educational decision not a political one. There’s no ban. They’ve changed the size of the books people.

The book is now in big book form. The teacher reads it with the whole class. It’s no longer a phonics plus decodable reader for 5 year olds ie a little book that absolute beginner readers read independently. There are loads of books with te reo at Tupu which is the next level. You all got this wrong

The reasoning is that it’s at an early stage of independent decodable texts. It will be in big book form for whole class reading. I don’t know why they didn’t just move it further on in the scope and sequence for independent reading and keep publishing it in small book form.

The physical as well as verbal abuse in kitchens was horrendous. But a student has to pay rent.

Feel like Van Morrison lyrics. Have you tried putting them into an AI song generator?

Absolutely. Bring in their bins and mail and feed cats when away. ‘Do’ Halloween on request. Give each other heads up when the teens have a noisy party. Only stretch to both sides and three houses across the road.

Duncan with his head in a bowl of grated vegetables was last night’s surprise and best viewing. He obviously appreciates all food groups.

Suzanne isn’t the threat they think she is. They won’t see the Samoan connection until it’s over.
