Estimating algae parameters can be challenging, as these multi-reserve models heavily rely on the quantity and quality of datasets. Maria J. Lagunes explored how different kinds of experimental data help reduce the uncertainty of estimates, thus increasing their identifiability and prediction power

Diogo F. Oliveira introduced a new method for initializing DEB parameter estimation at the DEB 2025 symposium. He developed a nearest-neighbor model and a neural network, achieving feasible solutions 99% of the time, aiming for faster convergence by starting closer to true species parameters.

🇬🇷 The DEB 2025 Symposium was a big success. 🥳 Presentations ranged from theoretical developments, the evolution of traits and biodiversity, stress ecology and ecotoxicology, to metabolism across levels of organization. 🤯 DEB theory is now actively used on several fronts of applied science. 🍀🐄⚗️
