My 93 year-old father, who served in the army, lives with me. The local folks setting off firecrackers and cherry bombs last night were tough: "Do you hear bombs?" "I hear guns shooting." Each time, I told him that it was 4th of July fireworks, and he was okay... until the next one went off.

While I do like Diana Ross and Lionel Ritchie, I can’t think of many songs more boring than “Endless Love.”

I was an Econ student at UNH in the '80s. Much discussion in our classes about "Trickle Down Economics." One of our Profs speculated that the changing nature of Global economies in this new "Information Age" rendered the models on which these theories were based useless. He was right.

There's one big problem with hoodies, though. That hood is bulky under a coat or jacket. I'll keep my hoodies for hanging around at home and for going outside in Fall or Spring. But Winter in New England? Cardigan.

When I would accompany my mom to her medical appointments, I disliked hearing doctors address her as "Young Lady." I dared not say anything, at the risk of alienating the person in charge of her medical care. Docs out there, please stop doing this. Use the person's name.
