Years ago, a couple of my intro to lit students (theatre majors) caught me after class to accuse me of being Canadian because of the way I sometimes pronounce “about.” I grew up a U.S. military brat. Had a Canadian babysitter as a toddler, though, according to my mom.

Sorry that I missed it! Here is my FB post from 4 days ago on the same topic. In the 1970s and 80s, they blamed “cold” moms for autism. So the mom/blaming has been going on a while.

I’m not advocating that others do this now. By all means, keep all of your given names. What I’m amazed at is the pushback women are experiencing now due to one party’s ill-conceived and cruel crusade. Ridiculous!

When I married over 40 years ago, I dropped my given middle name and took my maiden name as my new middle name. (I never told my mother!) I then applied for a reissued SS card (same SSN) in my new name, supplying my marriage license to them. My passport has always had my new name, as do my IRS files

Remarks by Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth are fueling concerns that the U.S. will move away from Europe and align with Moscow.

A decidedly anti-immigrant and weirdly pro-misogyny rant. 🙄 Is he preparing Europeans to reject Ukrainian immigrants? Please be assured the resistance in the US (outside of DC) grows in numbers every day. My former boss posted on FB for the first time in months today—a strong anti-tRump/Elon rant.
