Tonight I called my electeds re: the gutting of the IMLS, the only source of Federal funding for the US's 125,000 libraries.

We need ALL the things these amoral elitists are smashing. I just happen to know at a deeply personal level how much our communities need their libraries.

Y'all. Call.

*QUICK ACTION*
Email TODAY (Tue, Feb. 18) to weigh in on proposed changes to the Library of Congress Subject Headings referring to the Gulf of Mexico and Mount Denali.

The LCSH is the arbiter of the official vocabulary we use to describe our U.S. reality (and which then can be searched for).
Call for IMMEDIATE action: LCSH is officially proposing changes from "Mexico, Gulf of" to "America, Gulf of" and "Denali" to "Mt. Mckinley": classweb.org/tentative-su...
Send feedback to listcomments@loc.gov by TODAY, Tuesday, February 18, to oppose these changes

With my demolished health, my life is characterized by an overwhelming feeling of helplessness right now. Today's pushing back for sanity included making donations to the ACLU, the HRC, the National Center for Lesbian Rights, and GLAD Law (GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders).

There's a dented blue metal filing cabinet with wonky drawers in the basement, containing the dust of ages past. Also, as it turns out, receipts for my oil changes dating back to the 90s, and a few musty treasures from the glorious days of The Van.
