Updated revision notes on all 3 books in my urban fantasy trilogy today. If I don't do it now, I'll have forgotten by the time I read them all through. The time's well spent to make sure the details are consistent throughout this epic multi-generational story. #booksky #writingcommunity #editing

I apologize for being away a few days, (& welcome to new followers), but this cold & cough has drained my energy. I've managed to post my latest blog, though: Changes, Challenges, and Chemo. #writingcommunity #booksky #cancer #writerslife debrapurdykong.wordpress.com/2025/11/08/c...

I picked up a mild cold on Halloween but the doc said to go ahead with treatment today, so I'm at the halfway point with this chemo regime. Also worked on a blog, book review & newsletter before leaving for treatment. Gotta keep writing. It makes me happy. #writerslife #Booksky #writingcommunity

A fun Sunday spent carving pumpkins with the family. The granddaughters picked their own design by giving us goofy facial expressions. The big, scary one was my spouse's design. On the writing front, I wrote 1,100 words before I went to chemo treatment today. :) #Halloween #booksky #writingcommunity

Ya gotta love autumn. Perfect for #walking, #reading, #writing, and just reflecting on all the things I'm grateful for. #booksky #writingcommunity. Working on chap. 20 of my current #urbanfantasy and reading Jim Butcher's Summer Knight.

What with Halloween coming up, thought I'd read a post-apocalyptic classic thriller, The Day of the Triffids. Saw a couple of movie versions years ago. The story was published in 1951 and still holds up. #reading #Booksky

Very little writing this week. Taking a short vacation to visit friends in Penticton, BC. Walking back from Skaha beach, we strolled past a trio of deer, happily grazing and oblivious to passersby or traffic. #vacation #Penticton #booksky #writerslife #wildlife

Back to editing today & it's going well. Yesterday's celebration of 3 birthdays was a great success. Everyone loved the watermelon cake my daughter made, especially the granddaughters! #birthdaycelebration #watermelon #cake

Another chapter revised thanks to great feedback from my critique group last night. Working on the next now. The trilogy's slowly coming together. Soon, I'll be working on the 3rd book while putting the 1st two on the back burner. #writingcommunity #booksky #urbanfantasy

A good morning of editing a chapter, blog & book review. Then lunch & out for a walk plus shopping for a birthday present for sibling. Stopped to admire the lavender. Now back to work :) #writingcommunity #editing #booksky #gardens

No writing today. Instead, bookselling at a small, but fun craft fair. Sometimes, I've just got to get out there and meet people. Enjoyed some really cool conversations today, and sold a few books, which was a bonus :) #craftfairs #bookselling #books #booksky

For friends in BC's Lower Mainland, there's a craft fair this Saturday. I'm told the Easter Bunny will be there from 11:30-1:30, so bring the kids & grandkids. Have fun shopping and supporting local artisans. #craftfair www.cloverdalecraftfair.com

Recently, I finished reading one of the best how-to books on writing I've read in awhile. Emotion and Immersion: The Two Pillars of Storytelling by Michelle Barker and David Griffin Brown. Although I've been writing a long time, I found many useful tips. #Booksky #writers #bookreview

Just finished reading and reviewing Who We Are: Four Lessons for A Life and a Nation by Murray Sinclair. It's a terrific book about the obstacles Mr. Sinclair overcame to become only the second Indigenous judge in Canada, a senator, and Chair of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
