money could buy my friends with shitty, soul-crushing jobs they're only keeping for the health insurance a year of rest to work on creative projects and take care of their bodies and minds (and cats, and gardens, and families), but it can't buy Elon Musk kids who actually like him

the difference is, like, are you a person with a full life for whom financial woes are a recurring stressor - which is like, the human condition for about 99% of people - in which case money absolutely can fix a lot of what's wrong; or are you accruing money BEYOND WHAT IS FEASIBLE TO SPEND

I feel like if everyone I know in real life suddenly, magically had a stable annual household income of $100k per year, that money would buy a LOT of happiness. sleeping better, spending more time with your pets and kids, travel and hobbies, always getting your meds on time, the ability to breathe
