Painting and using natural materials for collage & printing. Beautiful weather, wonderful women, and the magic of Manitoulin Island.

More small 4x6 paintings. Not really feeling the owl but this was my first go at him, I want to do a larger version of it.

Trying my hand at oil painting. Pic is of Lake Manitou, Manitoulin Island, ON, I took last year. Thanks to a friend for letting me use their paints, brushes etc. I'm pretty happy with the results & I feel a trip to buy new art supplies is imminent.

Turns out it wasn't quite done. This was the final outcome.

Not quite sure if it's done or not, we'll see.

I take classes which make me paint in mediums & styles outside my comfort zone. Last night I painted this at my class. My son says it looks like 2 blobs with penis heads. It's supposed to be a woman & her dog 😆. Thoughts?

In a recent Substack post by Charlie Angus he talks about forming resistance groups (highly recommend following him on Substack). I regularly write about building community & in today's post I expand on the idea of resistance groups in our communities.

Just finished a 6 week sketchbook class. Lots of fun playing with different mediums & not worrying about outcomes. It's good to just let go.

Now that the commission is finished I can just paint whatever I want. I love days where I just get to paint whatever I like. I almost always only use my Beam paints now when painting watercolour.

Starting a community garden is more than just planting seeds. In challenging times, this kind of grassroots action is a powerful way to reclaim control over our food & well-being.

Starting another pet portrait. I've been procrastinating on this one. I find it hard to get motivated this time of year.

Community Gardening is Community Activism.
Growing food together isn’t just about fresh produce—it’s about food security, resilience, and taking action when systems fail us.

I should be working on a pet portrait commission but I'm procrastinating. Why do I do commissions? Why do we do them? So instead these are my WIP - this is what procrastinating looks like.

The world is heavy right now. In these turbulent times, one of the most radical acts of resistance is self-care.
