Sometimes when I am so distressed by the news and feel that our future seems so hopeless, I find joy by hanging out with my rescued pug Mika. She brings me joy and happiness.

USAID has been instrumental in providing services in war torn countries. I took this picture in 2013 on Mt. Igman outside Sarajevo. USAID saved countless lives in Bosnia during the 1990s Balkan War.

Trump’s rhetoric of expansion is not dissimilar to Milosevic, who was arrested for war crimes committed during the Bosnian War. Trump needs to think carefully before he drags the US into a regional war where innocent civilians will be killed. This is one of many cemeteries from 1990s Balkan Wars.

Mika put on her Michigan jersey for NCAA football tomorrow and I don’t have the heart to tell her that it’s Michigan’s bye week. She can wear it while her dad watches his Spartans play!

Our rescue pups! The pug was a mama rescued from a puppy mill and the border collie was rescued after he was thrown out of a moving car. We’ve been blessed with them for over 4 years now!

I receive monthly Remicade infusions and the wife of a chemo patient hands these out to all the patients at the cancer center. It’s just a small kindness that makes our day a little bit better by knowing that people care.

These 2 rescued pups are bringing me comfort right now while I process this nightmare. I will never understand how so many Americans chose such a vile man over a brilliant and inspiring woman.
