I proudly signed Ms. Crockett’s petition for her first run for office and support her wholeheartedly. That said, Texas won’t elect a black female Senator. Too many Christian nationalists who don’t think women should vote, and too many racists. I hope she continues in the House where we need her.

No surprise. The Texas Guard is not equipped or trained for a Chicago winter. Many have never seen a snowplow, and about a third have never seen snow. We’re still running the AC in much of Texas.

I met Donald Trump for the first time at a Clinton fundraiser. People forget Trump was a Democrat for years, and the Clintons were guests at his wedding to Melania. I agree that anyone who abuses children needs to be prosecuted. But we were stronger, safer, and freer when Bill Clinton was in office.

I noticed. My granddaughter walks around with about $150,000 of medical devices in her chest (artificial heart valve, pacemaker, defibrillator, two shunts). It will take help from her dad, stepmom, and me to cover the quadruple cost of her ACA insurance next year. Of course, she’s worth it.

Yeah. I figured out early that Josephine was a smart woman. She taught me a lot in between putting up with my mother’s nerves.

I remember sitting in the den, watching those images on TV, and asking our black housekeeper why those people were yelling at her and she said, “If you understood why evil people act like that, you’d be evil, too.” Still true today. Prejudice is just another word for evil.

My mother had ulcers often when I was a kid, and doctors often blamed stress. But they know now that, while stress contributes, ulcers are caused by Helicobacter pylori bacteria. NSAIDS also contribute. But you and your mind’s reaction to stress aren’t the cause. Wishing you fast healing.

Texas does not have initiative and referendum. (That means Texans can’t petition for something and vote on it.) There is nothing in our constitution that requires a public vote on very many things the governor and legislature do.

I hate to say it, but Trump is NOT a convicted rapist. He was held civilly liable, never charged or tried in a criminal court. What’s the difference? The first costs him money. The second could send him to prison and would prohibit him from being around minors.

The Texas Guard is not trained or equipped for a Chicago winter. It’s 80 degrees in most of Texas today. It was idiotic to send people who have never seen snow tires (and in some cases snow) to a place where the can’t function. Texas closes down when the temp gets to 11 degrees.

Sadly, only 11 US states set the age of consent at 18. Florida is one of them, which is why 17-year-old Virginia Guiffre fell under the statutory rape law when she was recruited Mar A Lago. It’s also why Matt Gaetz is in trouble. Most states set the consent age at 16 or 17.
