Yeah. David Stern would never.
Lauri Markkanen more deserving.

I see. Well I'm sure he'll get at least one vote. Our team is pretty high profile now. Can't wait to hear the pundits tomorrow.

Did he not play last season?
February 7, 2026 at 3:36 AM
Just make him shoot 3s from the left corner. He's 38% there. Beats having Ausar or Holland receiving the ball at the corner.

Plus he has a decent midrange jumper. Again, not to bash Ausar or Holland, but I cringe everytime they get the ball in the paint, because you know it's not gonna be good.
Naji Marshall Shooting Chart | StatMuse
Naji Marshall has shot 53.8% (257/478) overall and 30.4% (41/135) from three in 48 games this season. (Shot Chart)

Even more impressive that he did it in this era of NBA where rules are catered more for offensive players.

If you just said Top 5 in Net rating. There would only be 5 outliers, 3 less than the Top 10 on both sides rule. 2023 DEN, 2011 DAL, 2010 LAL, 2006 MIA, 2001 LAL.

83% accurate.

Which is better?
February 1, 2026 at 9:59 PM
If you go by the top 10 on both sides rule, there are 8 outliers. 2023 DEN, 2022 GSW, 2020 LAL, 2018 GSW, 2010 LAL, 2004 DET, 2001 LAL, 1999 SAS.

So 73% accuracy?

I've never heard of top 10 in both sides as an indicator of championship contender. I've heard of Phils famous 40 wins before 20 loss.

I was bored so I searched up the past 30 champs off, def and net ratings. Why 30? I don't know, but my statistic teacher said use 30.

Lastly. My favorite quote from a famous outlier championship team, "Don't ever underestimate the heart of a champion."
February 1, 2026 at 9:07 PM
Before you block me. I just want to say. Granted it wasn't modern baskteball era. But. Your Boston Celtics was ranked dead last in offense and first in defense for 4 years straight from 61 to 64. They wouldn't have made the list, but they won 4 years straight. Outliers?
February 1, 2026 at 9:07 PM
I'm sorry. I didn't ask you for a list of contenders. I merely stumbled upon your list and pointed out that it is flawed. I'm sorry I offended your list.
February 1, 2026 at 9:07 PM
I like your point. So why not make a list based on Net rating then? If he did that, I wouldn't have said anything. Top 4 would've been OKC, DET, BOS, HOU. In that order. But his criteria is Top 10 rating on both sides and the list is 4 West team only.
February 1, 2026 at 8:56 PM
Yes.

And you like the list because it's easy to make. That's all you have.

Even when half of the last 6 champs don't fit them. "Outliers" Ha!
February 1, 2026 at 8:02 PM
I don't like list based on stats only. Give me some insights based on how the team plays and how the players are improving to be a championship contender. Or even trades that would make them contenders. And if you backed it up with stats, that would be better.
February 1, 2026 at 7:23 PM
I'm sure a lot of people last year knew that if Haliburton wasn't hurt last year, Pacers would've had a good shot at winning, yet they don't fit your criteria. Def 13th Off 9th. And that is what makes playoff basketball special.
February 1, 2026 at 7:23 PM
It's a lazy way of listing contenders. Anybody can look up stats and compile a list. ‪Moban @mcmathketball.bsky.social‬ pointed out that half of the champs since 2020 don't fit and your explanation is just that those are outliers. I went back 22 years because I'm a die hard Pistons fan.
February 1, 2026 at 7:23 PM
Pointless stat. All four of your title contenders are all from the West. Yet we know only one will make it to the finals. You can not judge the east contenders by the same criteria. The 2004 Detroit Pistons Champion was 18th Off and 2nd Def. By your criteria, they are not contenders.
February 1, 2026 at 5:02 PM
No thanks. Tobias more valuable at this stage of our team. How many times has Tobias bailed us out when we needed a bucket. Plus we are playing elite defense. Good enough for winning the East. Getting Draymond now is not going to move the needle.

Most twins in the NBA have similar FT%. When are we gonna see Ausar raise his now that Amen is shooting 80% free throw. He is 3rd on the team at FTA. It would be great if he can at least reach 70%.
January 29, 2026 at 4:20 PM
They've been 1st since Nov 7 last year.
January 21, 2026 at 3:13 AM
He played the past three match ups. Scored 21, 16, then 12. We are so fucked.
