It’s Sunday. Our hearts are broken. Our beloved 15 yr old pup has crossed the rainbow bridge. We took ourselves to the waters edge to heal our hearts and soothe our souls… just a little.

Happy Sunday and Happy Memorial Day weekend. My heart thanks all of the veterans that gave all for our freedom. Filled to the brim with gratitude. May we not take that for granted, especially now when that freedom is threatened.

The firing of Dr. Hayden was already a travesty and Todd Blanche as the interim Librarian of Congress just rubbed salt, lime juice, and battery acid in the wound

Library of Congress staff just showed what resistance looks like. After Trump abruptly fired Dr. Carla Hayden, the respected Librarian of Congress, he tried to install Todd Blanche, his former personal lawyer and current Deputy Attorney General, as acting librarian. Staff weren’t having it.

Dr. Carla Hayden is the most qualified Librarian of Congress in the history of the position. She’s the *only* one who is a librarian. Before her the position was an appointment for life. When she was appointed they limited her term. She’s the only woman and only African American to hold the office.

I am deeply troubled by the dismissal of Dr. Carla Hayden, a trailblazing librarian and the first African American and woman to serve as Librarian of Congress. Her leadership modernized access to knowledge for all. This is a loss for intellectual freedom and public service.

NEW: ALA salutes Dr Carla Hayden for her exceptional service to the nation as the Librarian of Congress. We are deeply disappointed in Dr Hayden's abrupt & unjust dismissal last night, an insult to the scope & breadth of her work.

Dr. Carla Hayden has served as Librarian of Congress with honor and distinction, bringing our prized institution to new heights.

Trump’s outrageous, politically-motivated move to fire her is despicable. The Library of Congress belongs to the American people — NOT to Trump.
