In Chinese mythology, the Kun (鯤) is a colossal fish dwelling in the northern sea, first recorded in Zhuangzi. When it transforms, it becomes the Peng (鵬), a bird so vast its back spans thousands of miles. In flight, its wings darken the heavens like suspended clouds. 1/2

仁 (ren), the Confucian precept often translated as benevolence or humaneness, exemplified by the human adult instinct to protect children.

The Analects also states that if the ruler lacks ren, it will be difficult for his subjects to behave humanely.

More of ren, now.
