Teacher, grandma, lover of all things coding and STEM. #MinecraftEDU is my choice for #GBL and #Python coding. I am a #MIEEexpert and a #MicrobitChampion who just wants to keep giving to kids and educators as long as I can make a difference. #EduSky
It's certainly attractive and engaging. I looked on the website and I was unable to see where it showed every letter in the alphabet. This is important to me because my students need to have uppercase I, looking different from lowercase l. I also need tails on q's and g's. So the details matter.

The difficult balance in teaching students new and unfamiliar information is to give them the repetition they need to create connections to prior knowledge, without driving them nuts with 30 problems with the exact same formula for the answer on a piece of paper.
It requires a lot of planning.

Ride a bike. Watch a thunderstorm. Play kickball. Sometimes mental health is less about knowing something, than it is doing things. Brain breaks, service projects, fixing broken stuff.
I'm not pretending that I know the solution, but I agree that presenting things well makes a difference.

I see a lack of coding activities here. They do mention robotics, but it's a big omission. There are websites where students can go to code, and economically priced devices. 🤖
I don't know how you can do #STEM without any art,
But for curriculum, I suggest #Coding content. 🖥️

All kinds of kids, all kinds of ways to struggle...
good struggle, bad struggle... and understanding them and caring about them is important but it's not enough if we don't have the skills.
Sounds like a fantastic chat!

I think he might have missed the analogy. He's not talking about price fixing in companies, he's talking about determining tarrifs? Wasn't that the context?
The tarrif situation is controversial, but I sure would be happy to find equality for prison laborers and kids frozen out of school to work.

One of the great honors of my life was the opportunity to write code for the Hubble space telescope.

My dad worked on many missions, including the Pioneer Venus, engineering a probe to detect ions in its atmosphere. #STEMhero #EduSky @edusky.bsky.social

I can't find bio or social media for Javiera Rana. Can you link?

I don't know why any organization should be able to practice civil rights violations and still have tax-free status, be a non-profit organization, and also get funds.
This needs to be clarified in the law and in the courts.

In the 80's they were trying to give the kids only certain foods to keep them from being hyper.
When I was young, we would go outside and play tag, we would ride our bikes all day, have outdoor recess every day. We looked at the clouds and looked for 4 leaf clovers in the lawn. Something there.

Fun facts:
The separation of church & state was intended to stop particular religious groups from collecting mandatory tithes from all citizens in a state, like Virginia did.
Harvard started as a seminary. Yale, Princeton, & Brown began similarly.
IMHO, Fed. funding is bad for private schools.

I think we want to treat people with dignity and respect, including all students.
In regards to foreign students, the Trump administration did not create the reporting requirements. A search on "What are the reporting requirements for universities who admit foreign students" clarifies.

I was curious and read the article. The students in the picture look 6 yrs old.
After reading, I suggest including ages for each activity. I don't know if 7-year-olds would be able to come up with countries and flight times, or if 5 year olds could handle the visual "pass."
Thanks for posting.

I would lose any build battle easily unless I could use code to build everything.
It's been years and still I stink at break and place because I'm always in the world for coding.
It looks like fun!

Yes! Incredible worlds were built by collaborative pairs: an arena with code to arm combatants, a maze with 4 different biomes...
This was the final battle in the #MinecraftEDU #Python arena tournament (I was eliminated 1st round;)

I love #MinecraftEDU
My CS1 students are currently creating a #Minecraft game requiring a new skill. From that launch point, I give them a couple of wild examples, and then let them go!
When I tell my students to wow me, they always do!

I like the creative common style in that. I think it's good looking.
I like to use text;
I include the prompt I used, the particular AI site I used, and the date.
Remembering prompts is hugely helpful to me.
When I'm having trouble I can look at a similar interaction, and fix things up. #EduSky
