My first summer job was working as a locker room attendant at the Island Yacht Club. I was not aware of it at the time, but IYC was created in 1951 by Jewish residents who were excluded by Toronto's existing yacht clubs, including the Royal Canadian Yacht Club.

I just retired from working as a software engineer for 30 years. I had been using GitHub Copilot (voluntarily) for the previous 8 months, and was amazed at how it improved my productivity. IMHO, any software engineer *not* using AI tools is living in the past.

I was never spanked for making mistakes. I was spanked when I clearly disobeyed my parents' instructions. This was the 60s. If they had raised me today, I'm sure they would have handled discipline differently. I had the best parents any child could hope for!

First car I ever drove. I was 9 or 10, and my uncle let me drive his 2CV around a farm field in Quebec. 'Twas an orange beauty.
