To me it sounds like the interviewers didn’t want to proceed. Usually people make up their mind in the first few seconds and act accordingly. It is a shame though that the tech industry uses the same kind of interview for all experience levels.

Many small steps were purely vibe coded, in my personal projects. In many cases I did make manual modifications though - mostly because I wanted something slightly different than what I had said. It is quite rare to get broken code from AI
