We would need countless resources, funds and decades to rebuild what has been dismantled. But what do I know? I only live in a rural area that used to have factories in every town and now, only one remains and it's on its way down the drain. When it goes, not one, but several towns lose livelihood

What domestic goods and markets? We live in a society that glorified the white collar careers so much that we now lack true skilled labor. And unskilled as well, since CEOs have spent decades shopping their factories overseas. The US factories died out through sheer greed.

I know it says no explanation, but I took entirely too long to finish this, between real life and simply picking 20 out of the I-don't-know-how-many books which have influenced me in any way. This one is sticking with me today, largely owing to the current political climate.

Nothing sums up how wrong Vance more than this... You just stop and say 'what kind of heinous moron does that to cast iron???' and then you realize who you're talking about... Stay true, Vermont
