like my uncle shot himself i cant just go to my mom and be like “hey you have to dedicate a significant amount of time and conscious thought to being able shoot someone incase the government turns on us” its an unreasonable thing to ask of a lot of people even if its true due to pre existing trauma

association has an extremely powerful psychological effect on people whether valid or invalid it can be extremely hard to deconstruct (main reason why socialism is still so scary to people)

i feel like this is largely for valid (yet potentially illogical) reasons guns have a very strong association with the absolute worst aspects of humanity. a lot of people have been affected/traumatized by guns in some way and/or been propagandized. you could make a whole thesis on the psychology

learning about history and philosophy is not an alt right pipeline you get sucked into it can only broaden your ability to critically think about issues from perspectives you will never be able to experience and as a result have an underdeveloped understanding of (whether you realize it or not)

i used to think the exact same which is why i think its an important topic to research even if you do not think you will be swayed. you never know what you dont know and it never hurts to try and make sure youre right. the stakes are pretty high on this topic in this day in history

i think you should do some research into historical and ongoing violent resistance groups and the conditions they face because it is never that cut and dry no matter how good that makes you feel about the systems that be in fiction or reality. israel and hamas being a good starting point
