For a start, the headline is an answer to a strawman. Nobody has said modern stoves are causing 2,500 deaths. What they have said is that all wood burning, which modern stoves are a part of, have caused 2,500 "attributable deaths” 1/3

They are both heating appliances. That's very clear from the fact that you put the word "heat(s)" in both definitions.

A gas boiler can heat one room as well.
