I personally love friction and discovery in my games, but if you've never faced down millions of outraged people saying they'll demand a refund if they can't get out of a starting area, it can be hard to comprehend why devs do these things - and that's without corporate insistence on top.

It's clear that autocorrect is so wrapped up in text prediction and bad datasets now that it just shoves in random words, which is particularly bad when the words are spelled correctly but otherwise entirely wrong.

It's easy to miss the machine-made errors on a skim.

I had spelled "sleep" correctly! It just decided that was the wrong word and put in something contextually nonsensical.

The same happens at work. I watched a document I was working on change "hostile" to "hostel" THREE times despite me retyping the right word. I've never used "hostel" in work text.
