This is a post I’ve been dreading & procrastinating: (🧵 1/3)
Trixie (my partner’s spirit animal/familiar/pup of 17 years) was put to sleep on Thursday (6/19/25) at 5:36 pm. She had Addisons disease, an adrenal crisis last month, arthritis, a gallstone forming, and likely liver cancer.

Sneaking in (thaaaaanks @simondemaio.bsky.social 🤪) as a later addition that should have never been: Descent Freespace 2 (and 1). Easily my favorite flying games of all time and the reason I picked up an actual joystick. The games are amazing and absolutely holds up (from what I’ve heard 😅)

Another soulslike? Hear me out, the world is so beautiful and well designed. Finding a new path was like striking a rich vein of wonderful derelict surprises. And the attention to small details (looking at you mantis!) was astounding.
Maybe it's time to return to Hallownest....

I'm not good at soulslikes but I love them. Sekiro took the Fromsoft "get gud" and built a game around it. Boss fights became a learning process after mastering basic mechanics:
1) Go on defensive to learn boss' moveset
2) Perfect block to stagger boss and punish
3) Show off mastery by going aggro

Have you ever sat around a computer with your friends letting them backseat game because it was a single player game and it's your computer (and game)? It was one part flight sim, one part fantasy game, all parts awesome. (And lead me to the game that ALMOST took this slot Descent: Freespace)

Naughty Dog had a thesis to explore: when embarking on a mission of revenge; dig two graves. They hit this so hard and furiously that TLoS2 was a painful game to play. Were the fights fun? Heck yeah! Did I have a pit in my stomach for entire sections with a tissue box in reach? Also heck yeah.

Starting off with the game that set my gold standard of design. They could have left it with a revolutionary "sanity system" that reached through the 4th wall to mess with the player. The soundtracks, reuse of spaces, and entire atmosphere was amazing. Just don't look at the folks that made it.
