A guilty pleasure of mine is to try every new rockstar flavour I find. This latest one is weird. I can taste the berry, but I have no clue what the other half of it is, whatever the fuck "freeze" tastes like I guess.

Not a huge fan of the pale shrek green.

In highschool we had a game development unit in computer science class. Busted my ass for 2 weeks to create a small pokemon themed shmup.

I don't have gamemaker installed anymore, but this is what we would have used at the time, and what it would have looked like (image stolen from google)

I hope I'm not the only dev who does stuff like this at every opportunity I get. Whenever I need placeholder text for testing it's usually some flavour of this.

God a pretty big chunk of the upgrade system implemented on Monday. I'm really happy with how it's turned out. Can't wait to do more playtesting with it.

Burn list for this week: Perks / purchasable upgrades.

Ideally this won't take that much time. I've got a lot of time off work this week so, I'm planning on a relatively productive game dev week.

I don't think I'll get the entire list done, for now I'd like to focus on 4 or 5, then move on.

Here's a nice little progress update. Added a music track and sfx to this initial level. I know I want to do a second pass on both, but there are more pressing things to work on at the moment.

Still aiming to release something playable to itch before 2026.

Hey this is a pretty fucked example of stolen assets. The Selaco team is solid and doesn't deserve this crap. Go search the game "Ala" on steam and report it.

Report button is the little flag a towards the bottom of the page. Select "Legal violation" nd add "stolen assets" in the text box.

Be me, last night, 9:30pm, inebriated. A thought occurs: "I bet it would be fun to learn Godot shaders right now..."

2 hours of borderline screaming at the monitor ensued. The journey went from white screen, to motionless noise, to random red spots on the screen.

Worth it.

Everything is looking satisfactory with the weapon balancing. It took longer than I expected, part of that is my fault for not knowing how to properly utilize Godot for testing until the very end.

Either way, here's a peak at my messy balance notes.

Time to move on to playtest changes.

Aight. Imma call it a night. Got a bit of balancing done. It was mostly me just testing/playing the game. Still felt productive and had a lot of fun though.
