I'm just this guy yknow. All opinions entirely my own, and probably wrong
Nope I'm wrong, the Treasury lost the Secret Service after 9/11 lmao

Don't fuck with the taxman
November 18, 2025 at 11:12 PM
For the same reason as iirc the US postal service agents have astonishing power - it's all interstate commerce!
November 18, 2025 at 11:12 PM
Yeah it's exactly this I think, I believe the Treasury department ran the President personal protection agents until.. Clinton?
November 18, 2025 at 11:10 PM
Ok but this is only raising more questions
November 18, 2025 at 10:37 PM
We can do better. Ohio has a navy

Ohio is landlocked
November 18, 2025 at 10:26 PM
What the fuck, New York has a navy??
November 18, 2025 at 10:11 PM
Ok this is even funnier, US Navy sailors call the coast guard the 'puddle pirates'
November 18, 2025 at 10:09 PM
Yeah actually i was wrong on that - citizens as of 1787 were exempted
November 18, 2025 at 9:52 PM
Fun fact: John McCain was not in fact born in America (he was born to American parents in the then US controlled Panama Canal zone)
November 18, 2025 at 9:50 PM
Of course do the territories make any sense? No of course not!
Would someone born in Guam be able to become President? ... probably? Depends how the supreme court is feeling
November 18, 2025 at 9:49 PM
Interesting quirk that the courts have ruled that someone born to parents who lived a former US territory (namely the Phillippines) is *not* a natural born citizen but someone born in a current US territory (e.g Puerto Rico or uhhh DC) *is*
November 18, 2025 at 9:45 PM
Gosh you're right!
November 18, 2025 at 9:43 PM
I don't have a point here actually. Just weird quirks of history
November 18, 2025 at 9:39 PM
And even weirder, it excludes people from the line of succession- Secretaries of State (the 2nd or 3rd most important job in the white house?) Madeline Albright or Henry Kissinger were skipped over
November 18, 2025 at 9:19 PM
Yeah although it dilutes the whole 'we've got the council in Woking we're obviously the anti government choice', but on balance it probably ie better for long term yh
November 18, 2025 at 6:49 PM
He wishes he had Adrian Gillan's charisma
November 18, 2025 at 6:15 PM
Mildly amusing that iirc Clegg rejected electoral reform for local government because he thought it would just erode Lib strength for nothing. And I mean he wasn't necessarily *wrong* but uh the 2010-15 period wasn't great for you guys in local elections..
November 18, 2025 at 6:10 PM
Heard 'fairytale of new york' in Greggs, on the 18th November. M&S would never do this to me
