18 years, 2 consoles and one remaster sit between Metroid Prime 4 and the previous entry in the series. Naturally this is going to have an impact on the expectations of fans when finally getting hands on with the new game. Not to mention the explosion in popularity in the metroidvania genre and sheer number of excellent titles that have moved the genre forward in the years betwixt.

I've not posted in a while, I guess I've just been having too much fun playing games. Too many good games to play and not enough hours in the day! Donkey Kong Bananza I've just seen the credits roll on DK Bananza and I can say this game did not disappoint. It was easily my most anticipated Switch 2 game since the consoles announcement and I had such a great time playing it.

Multiple artists, including The Last Dinner Party, also pulled out of the festival after the incident.

I can't explain why, but I've already resisted Hideo Kojima's games. I've known for a long time that they remain a huge blind spot in my video game playing experience. People love him! He has a godlike status among game developers and a devout following. So why haven't I picked one up before? While his games, like the Metal Gear titles, always receive their critical plaudits and fan praise alike, they do generally divide opinion; they have their share of detractors too.

When Echoes of Wisdom was revealed, I was excited for it. I loved the Link's Awakening remake and was glad they were going to revisit this art style for a new title. I liked the reveal that Zelda was going to be the main character in this one instead of Link; I didn't feel it was a gimmick and was really looking forward to the ways this might change up the gameplay formula.

See what I did there? I have just read Marathon has been delayed indefinitely, which is really disappointing bit not at all surprising. As a long time Destiny player I was looking forward to this one, its development has however been marred by problem after problem including most recently a huge plagiarism scandal that has blown up online. As time has gone on my own anticipation for the title has cooled and sentiment online has outright soured.

Approximately 8 years after the original Nintendo Switch was released in a few days I'll finally get my hands on the Nintendo Switch 2 and I couldn't be more excited. Like a kid waiting for Christmas the anticipation has been torturous especially as it feels like the console announcement was perpetually "any day now" for the last 2-3 years. It's been like living in some awful Switch announcement limbo.

I wanted to write something calling out some of my favourite online Gaming content creators. Highlighting some of the voices that I respect and enjoy is a good shorthand for my personal tastes and the type of games and content I value. *these aren't all strictly YouTubers many can be consumed as podcasts if thats more your thing. Bosman I do not know how Kyles stuff isn't more well known.

So let me be the first to say Fortnite's doing just fine for itself and doesn't really need anyone to step in and defend it. That being said I feel like Fortnite gets a bad rap from older and more "serious gamers™️" and is often disrespected by the hardcore crowd. It's often derided as childish, tacky, cheap, or too focussed on pop culture tie-ins and selling skins.

My first post and its not even about a game... I'm by no means a hardcore Star Wars fan but I have enjoyed it all my life and continue to. I haven't played all the videos games or consumed all the Disney produced stuff but I would say I've probably engaged with at least 70% of it. I regard ANDOR as one of the stronger Star Wars "things" to come out of the post Disney era, and I really rate season one.
