I don’t doubt it. The only point I made was that the BBC unnecessarily played into his hands.

If you heard it, what he said was that he believes the BBC would beat Trump in court - citing 1st amendment, that the programme wasn’t broadcast on world service and that iPlayer isn’t accessible in the USA.

His view based on:
- 1st Amendment rights
- programme not aired on World Service and iPlayer unavailability in the US meaning the chance of influencing US citizens with this were minimal.
- 1st Amendment rights

Which is exactly why I described how they could have made a good exit that would’ve avoided all this, but chose not to. FWIW the head of NewsMax in the US (who is a Trump supporter) just said on BBC R4 Today that he thinks the BBC would win in a Florida court.

I think the problem is that the BBC did make the edit. They could have faded out of on part and into the next to show the two parts weren’t said together and made exactly the same point, but they chose to do it the way they did instead.

Wow that’s horrible!

That’s precisely my point. They didn’t need to edit anything - just reporting the actual transcript - which is unvarnished , unquestionable fact - made exactly the same point and would have prevented all this outrage.

Given this terrible exit and your own Leadsom-ing on Newsnight, I think BBC needs a serious overhaul. The greatest gift they could give us is to be the reporter of unvarnished facts. Facts by definition are impartial.

The poor old Beeb has a real problem understating that reporting facts isn’t a failure of impartiality. That said, they cocked up royally with this edit.

It would have missed Hooley. Scroll down on this page to see that the planned rite was.

M23
It might be the most obviously unfinished motorway in the whole UK, let alone in London. The M23 was supposed to link London with Crawley - but its urban section was a problem that couldn't be solved.

I thought the reason for the abandonment of the M23 was well known, but I’m an older Croydonian than you I suspect.

I have a private pension and also younger people in my family. They need more support and we’ve had a much easier time of things than they are ever going to.

As someone drawing pension income I think it’s a good idea to rebalance BUT I think the extra 2% I will pay should be hypothecated to pay for things that will benefit younger people.

Or out - you just get waved through. And this goes back many decades.

If this is done alongside ID Card introduction AND “stamp out” at passport control and “stamp” in on (re)entry we’d also have a record of how many people are here and might be able to plan effectively.

Did you see “The Hack” on ITV? With 5’5” Toby Jones playing 6’2” Alan Rusbridger?

Looking at their own appointments and enoblements, the hypocrisy of the Tories bloviating about a Labour donor being given a role is breathtaking. #ToryHypocrisy #ToryCorruption

Ed Davey has quite aa good record for calling out Unteroffizier Farage, both in Parliament and outside of it.
